Pierre-Elie de Pibrac Catharsis

October 16, 2021 - December 11, 2021

THE CLUB is pleased to present Pierre-Elie de Pibrac’s solo exhibition “Catharsis,” one part of his three-part series work “In Situ”.

“In Situ” evokes the immersion of the photographer in the ballet corps of the Paris Opera during the 2013-2014 season and the 2014-2015 season. Discreetly blending in with the dancers, he observed their movements, sharing their lives on and backstage of the Opera House. Pierre-Elie created three series for the In Situ photographs. The pieces, shot through this process, shows the energy of the dancers in a powerful and magical way.

“Catharsis is a very personal and abstract approach to dance. Employing a new vision and technique, I attempted to capture the energy radiated by the dancers during their performances and its diffusion into the surrounding space. Each ballet imbued me with strong emotions, urges, apprehensions and fantasies that I tried to transpose into photographic thoughts, like childhood memories. The result is powerful images that, through their distortion and natural abstraction, tell other stories. Thus, when looking at these photographs, the observer is permeated by the energy and emotion that they transmit, and left free to interpret them on a personal level.” - Pierre-Elie de PibracTHE CLUB is pleased to present "Element", a solo exhibition by Masakatsu Kondo.
